Logging Practice & Tracking Streaks

The Practice page is your child's practice home. If you have more than one child, use the student menu at the top to change child.

Logging a session

Tap Log practice, then fill in the session:

Student: shows only when your family has more than one student.
Date: today unless you change it. You cannot pick a future date.
Duration (minutes): tap 15, 30, 45 or 60, or Custom for 1 to 480 minutes.
How did it go?: optional. Great, OK or Struggling.
What did you practice?: the items of the student's latest assignment, which can be from an earlier week. Tick what you practiced.
Notes: optional, for your teacher.
Add video: optional. See Recording, Submitting & Watching Practice Videos.
Instrument: Trio picks it when the student has one. Pick one when there are more.

Tap Log practice to save. You need a student, a date, a length and an instrument. If the student has no instrument, ask your teacher to add one.

When a log earns a badge, a celebration screen shows the new badge.

Marking assignment items done

Tap an item on the Practice page to mark it done at once. Tap it again to clear it.
Tick items in Log practice to record what you practiced in that session. This counts toward the rule below. It does not mark the item done by itself.

Trio marks an item done when your logs cover enough different days in the studio week (Monday to Sunday):

Daily needs 7 days.
3× per week (3 times a week) needs 3 different days.
By next lesson needs one day.
An item with no days shown is done only when you tap it.

Minutes or counts such as "20 min" are a guide for one session. They do not change whether an item is done. Items start again each week.

Ticking items is for your family only. Only your teacher can change the assignment.

Your streak

The Practice streak card shows how many days in a row your child practiced, the streak freezes left, and the next badge within reach.

How do streak freezes work?

You do not use freezes yourself. If a practice day is missed and a freeze is left, Trio uses one to keep the streak. Each student gets 2 freezes every month. Unused freezes expire at the end of the month. Tap the freeze count on the card to see this.

This week

The This week card shows practice from Monday to Sunday against the weekly goal: practice days and minutes.

Who sets the weekly goal?

Your teacher sets it. The goal starts at 5 days and 150 minutes a week.

Today's focus

Today's focus shows today's minutes, the current piece and this week's checklist. Each item has Record to add a clip, or View when a clip is there. See Recording, Submitting & Watching Practice Videos.

Recent badges and Practice videos

Recent badges shows the newest badges. Tap See all to open all badges. Practice videos shows the newest clips, with View all.

Practice history

Practice history is a practice calendar for about the last 26 weeks. Darker squares mean more practice.

Recent sessions, below it, lists the last 30 days of logs. Tap it to open it.

How do I fix a wrong entry?

Open Recent sessions. Tap the trash button to delete a session, or tap a mood to change it, then log the session again if you need to. Only a parent or guardian can change a session here.

Badges

Practice earns badges in badge groups. On a computer, tap Badges at the top of the page. On a phone, tap See all on Recent badges. See Earning Practice Badges.
