Recording & Submitting Practice Videos

A short practice video lets your teacher hear how a piece sounds between lessons. Clips stay private - only your family and your teacher can see them.

Where to add a video

There are two places to add a clip:

Record on a checklist item. In Today's focus on the Practice page, each assignment item has a Record button. Tap it to open that item's video panel and add a clip for that specific item. When a clip is already submitted, the button reads View instead.
Add a video while logging. In the Log practice dialog, the Add a video button attaches a clip to the session you are logging.

Choosing a clip

Tapping Record or Add a video opens your device's file control. On a phone or tablet you can record a new clip or pick an existing one; on a computer you choose a file. Trio checks the length before it keeps the clip.

Keep practice videos under 5 minutes. A longer clip is refused with a message showing its length, so you can trim it and try again.

How a clip is matched up

Trio keeps each clip with the right work:

A clip added with the Record button is tied to that assignment item.
A clip added in Log practice is tied to that practice session. If you checked exactly one assignment item, the clip is also tied to that item; if you checked none and a current piece is set, it is tied to that piece.

Upload and status

Clips upload in the background, so you never wait on a spinner:

From the Log practice dialog, saving the log closes the dialog and the clip uploads on its own. The dialog shows only the clip name and a short status label while it is queued.
From the Record panel, a progress bar shows the upload, and a tap to retry link appears if it fails.

If an upload fails - a weak connection, for example - Trio retries it up to five times on its own before it waits for you. A clip stays saved on your device until it finishes, so it survives a reload or a spell offline.

What your teacher sees

A submitted clip shows a Submitted tag on your side. Your teacher reviews it from the student's practice views and can leave one comment on it, which you then see with the clip. Clips are visible to your family and to the studio's owner, admins, and teachers - not to studio staff.

You can remove a clip you added from the same panel where you submitted it.
