Subscribing to Trio

Your Trio plan is the subscription your studio pays to use the platform. Manage it from the Subscription tab on Owner Settings. This is separate from Stripe Connect, which handles payments from your families.

The Free Plan

New studios start on the permanent Free plan - no trial clock, no card required. The Free plan includes one teacher and supports up to 10 students. To unlock unlimited students, online payments via Stripe Connect, staff accounts, and higher AI and SMS limits, upgrade to a paid plan.

The top of the Subscription tab shows four stat cards:

  • Status - Free Plan, Active, Past Due, Cancelling, Cancelled, or Trial Expired
  • Seats - your current active seat count, with a breakdown when more than one
  • Billing Amount - $0/mo on the Free plan, or your calculated total once on a paid plan
  • Next Bill / Subscription Ends / Access Until - the relevant date for your current status (hidden on the Free plan)

Choosing a Plan

Trio offers two paid tiers, Pro and Max, each billed monthly or annually. Annual billing saves 17% compared to paying monthly.

The Manage Subscription card shows your current plan and an upgrade ad for the next tier up. To compare tiers and pick one, use the Change Plan or See all plans button, which opens the dedicated Change Plan page. There you select a tier and a monthly or annual interval.

How Seats Work

A seat is a billable staff account: owner, admin, teacher, or staff. Your subscription includes one seat (you); each additional staff member adds a seat. The Seats stat card shows your active seat count and a breakdown like "1 included + N additional."

When you add or remove a team member from Team Members, the seat count syncs to your subscription automatically. If you change staff mid-billing-period, the Seats card may note a pending adjustment so you can see what will change on the next invoice.

Subscription States

  • Free Plan - your studio is on the no-cost tier. The Free plan limits apply.
  • Active - you have a paid subscription in good standing.
  • Past Due - a recent charge was declined. A warning banner appears in the Payment section. Add a new card and set it as default to retry the charge.
  • Cancelling - you have scheduled cancellation; your paid plan stays active through the end of the billing period. An Undo Cancellation button reverses it before that date.
  • Cancelled / Trial Expired - your studio has returned to the Free plan. A Resubscribe button restores your prior plan.

Subscribing, Switching, and Cancelling

  • Subscribe Now or Change Plan starts a paid subscription. Trio captures your card details, then activates the plan on the tier and interval you chose.
  • Resubscribe appears after cancellation and re-creates your previous plan.
  • Cancel Subscription, in the destructive-styled block at the bottom of the page, schedules cancellation at the end of your current billing period. After cancellation your studio downgrades to the Free plan; any students or staff beyond the Free limits are deactivated and your data is preserved. If you have more than 10 active students, deactivate the extras from the Students page before you can cancel.
