Group Lessons

Screenshot of Group Lessons

A group lesson is a class where several students share one time slot - ensembles, theory classes, beginner groups, and similar. Manage them all from Group Lessons.

The List

The page header shows Group Lessons with a total count and a Create Group Lesson button. Below the header you can:

  • Search by name
  • Filter by status: All statuses, Scheduled, Completed, or Cancelled

The list is a table with columns for Name, Date & Time, Teacher, Location, Capacity, and Status. The Capacity column shows enrollment as a count with a colored progress bar (for example, 5/8) - the bar turns amber as the class fills and red when it is full. The Status column shows a colored badge for Scheduled, Completed, or Cancelled.

Creating a Group Lesson

Click Create Group Lesson to open the form. Provide:

  • Group Name - required, visible to students and parents
  • Description - optional, a brief summary for families
  • Teacher - defaults to you
  • Date and Start Time - required
  • Duration
  • Max Students - required; the capacity for the class (between 2 and 50)
  • Price per Student - required; what each enrolled student is charged
  • Location and Room - optional
  • An optional recurrence, set with Add recurrence

After saving, the group lesson appears on your calendar and in the Group Lessons list.

Managing the Roster

Click a group lesson name to open its detail page. The detail page has a Details card and a Roster card. From the Roster card you can:

  • Add Student - opens a picker; select a student and choose Enroll Student to add them
  • Remove a student with the X button next to their name, then confirm
  • Watch the capacity indicator update as students join or leave

When a class reaches capacity, the Add Student dialog shows "This group lesson is full" and blocks further enrollment until you remove a student or raise the Max Students value. You cannot reduce capacity below the number of students already enrolled.

Editing and Cancelling

Use the Edit button on a scheduled group lesson to change its name, time, capacity, price, or location. The teacher cannot be changed after creation.

To cancel, use the Cancel button. Cancellation applies to the whole class - choose a reason (Teacher cancellation, Weather, Low enrollment, or Other) and add optional notes. Enrolled students may receive makeup credits depending on your studio's cancellation policy.
