As a fourth-generation musician and string educator, Anna Morehart Falk, or Ms. Anna, as her students call her, has built a teaching practice that now spans 23 years. She runs Four Hartstrings Studio in South Tampa, a name that quietly braids three ideas at once: the heart-strings of teacher and family, her own surname, and the four strings of the instrument itself. The studio holds 25 active private students between the ages of 3 and 18.

Ms. Anna teaches the Suzuki method, trained and registered in books 1 through 7 plus Suzuki in the Schools levels 1 and 2. Her specialty is the very beginning, including students as young as 3. Most violin teachers will politely decline a preschooler; Ms. Anna actively builds her studio around them, on the conviction that careful, patient, mother-tongue work in those early years lays foundations that nothing else can. The Suzuki Triangle of parent, teacher and child is taken seriously at Four Hartstrings, and families enter the studio expecting to practice alongside their children, not from the next room.

Before the Tampa studio, Ms. Anna spent six seasons as a violinist with the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra in Wisconsin (2002–2008) and was a founding member of the Sapphire String Quartet (2005–2015), which serenaded hundreds of wedding couples and private events across a decade. She presently assists at the Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, where she sees the inverse of her private-studio work: how cohorts of young string players hold together under a single baton, and what private teachers can do to prepare students for that environment.

Her studio's students have become regular fixtures at FFMC Junior Festivals, where they consistently earn Superior ratings, and several have placed at the FFMC State Junior Convention. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, and she contributes to those organizations the same productive, highly-organized, detail-oriented, empathetic and intellectual approach that defines her work with families.

Ms. Anna writes for Trio on the subjects she has lived inside for two decades: Suzuki pedagogy, teaching across the full preschool-through-teenager span, the long arc of running a studio across moves and life chapters, coordinating private students with youth-orchestra commitments, and preparing students to walk onto a stage and play.
