  1. v2026.08.27.4
    New

Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, and more billing improvements

Bill a whole month on one statement, give families new one-time ways to pay, and sort your invoice income into categories.

    • Generate a monthly statement for each family in one step: next month tuition billed in advance, plus the previous month lessons, fees, and forfeits, all on one invoice due on the 1st.
    • Subscription charges now name the month they cover, so a line reads "45min monthly tuition (August 2026)" instead of a date range.
    • Families can pay a one-time invoice with Cash App Pay, wherever your studio accepts it.
    • Turn on Apple Pay and Google Pay in your Payments settings to let families pay an invoice straight from a device wallet.
    • Unpaid invoices in a family billing list now show a Pay Now button, so a family can start a payment without opening the invoice first.
    • Give each invoice line a category such as Lessons, Goods sold, or Fees. Lines created from lessons or fees are categorized for you; you set the category on anything you add by hand.
    • The Income Report now includes a By category breakdown, so you can see tuition, goods, and sales tax separately, in the report and in your CSV and PDF exports.
    • Open the invoice behind a billed fee in one click from the fee detail view.
  2. v2026.08.25.1
    Improved

Clearer cancellations and more flexible billing plans

Cancellation policies you can tailor per plan, a clear picture before you cancel, fairer handling of prepaid package lessons, and support for students on more than one plan.

    • Attach a cancellation policy to any billing plan, with your studio default as the fallback.
    • Before you confirm a cancellation, Trio shows exactly what will happen, whether that is a makeup credit or using a prepaid package lesson.
    • A clear reminder appears if your studio has no default cancellation policy set.
    • Package plans now handle cancellations by your prepaid balance: a late cancellation uses a lesson, while an on time one keeps it.
    • Students can hold more than one active enrollment, such as piano and violin, and Trio warns you before creating a duplicate of the same plan.
    • Enrolling a student in a package plan now bills the package up front.
  3. v2026.08.24.2
    Improved

Clearer billing, smoother practice, and handy profile links

A tidier billing Automation tab, quicker invoice generation, and a batch of practice and scheduling improvements for families.

    • The Billing Automation tab is cleaner: late fee settings now live in one place on the Rates and Fees tab, and Generate Invoices sits next to New Invoice on the Invoices tab and refreshes the list as soon as a run finishes.
    • The invoice list has a new Payment column, so you can see at a glance whether a family is on autopay or has a card on file.
    • Student names in lesson notes and the lending library are now links straight to the student profile.
    • Attendance Analytics now shows every student by name and counts only student cancellations.
    • In the family portal, you can attach videos to your practice log, and the Today section resets its checkmarks each week so it always reflects the current week.
    • The join link for online lessons now appears only near the lesson time, and lesson note PDFs list the pieces worked on.
  4. v2026.08.23.1
    Improved

Simpler studio setup, broader access, and mobile improvements

A quicker guided setup for new studios, wider access to billing and lesson notes, easier event RSVPs, and usability improvements on mobile.

    • Setting up a new studio is now a guided flow, with a Get set up checklist on your dashboard that tracks the essentials and checks them off as you go.
    • Staff members can now view the billing area. Owners and admins still make the changes.
    • Students with their own login can open their lesson notes.
    • Families can RSVP to a studio event straight from their schedule.
    • Usability improvements on mobile.
  5. v2026.08.17.2
    New

A lending library for the things you hand out

Keep track of the books, games and gear your studio lends to students: what you own, how many copies, who has what, and when it came back.

    • Lending Library is a new page in your studio menu. It opens on what is out right now, showing the student, the item, the date it left and how long it has been gone. Switch to All to see returns as well.
    • Check an item out in a few seconds. Pick the student, pick the item, and the date fills in as today. If the item is not in your list yet, you can add it without leaving the form.
    • Every item carries a number of copies, so the picker tells you what is actually free. Something with all copies out reads as unavailable and cannot be lent again by mistake.
    • Checking something back in takes one tap, and you can set an earlier date if it came back before you got to it.
    • A loan still open after three weeks is flagged, so anything that has quietly taken up residence elsewhere is easy to spot.
    • Each student profile now shows what that student has out, with a return button right there.
  6. v2026.08.17.1
    Improved

A composer that behaves like your phone, and an engagement page you can trust

The message composer now follows the conventions of the messaging app already on your phone, the engagement page counts real activity instead of the last sign in, and the practice widget holds its state while you work.

    • On a phone, pressing Return in the message composer now starts a new line instead of sending, so a two line message is finally possible. The send button sends. Emoji come from your device keyboard, so the composer no longer spends a button on a picker you already have.
    • The Ask Trio sparkle button no longer sits over the composer on Messages. Open the panel from another page and it stays with you as you move around the portal.
    • The engagement page now counts real activity in Trio rather than the last time someone signed in. Families who were using Trio the same day could be listed as inactive for months. Families who never accepted their invitation are now shown separately as invitations still pending, instead of counting against your engagement.
    • Engagement has its own help article now, covering what Strong, Fair and Low mean, exactly what the date range toggle changes, and how the family activity window works.
    • The practice widget holds its state properly. Items added from the picker keep their order, a slow save no longer loses a row when the list refreshes, and long titles truncate cleanly instead of running on.
    • Bottom sheets no longer jump when you pinch to zoom, and the delete action behind a swiped practice row can no longer be tapped by accident while the add menu is open.
    • A lesson note with nothing in it can no longer be shared, and a note that held only formatting no longer reaches families as stray asterisks.
    • Adding a composition now works for every studio. Some studios could not create one at all, and the failure repeated every time.
    • Phone numbers are stored and shown in one consistent format across Trio, and the studio application form formats them as you type. A student waiting on an invitation now reads Invitation Pending everywhere, matching the family screens.
    • Text message retries now count only genuine send attempts, so a message that struggles gets the full number of tries it was meant to have.
  7. v2026.08.16.1
    Improved

Photos that send, notes that read properly, and a heads up before you turn a fee off

Attaching a photo from your phone now works, lesson notes read the way they were written everywhere they appear, and Trio warns you about charges already on the books before you switch a fee off.

    • Photos taken on a phone now attach to messages. Larger pictures used to sit on a spinner that never finished and then send without the image, with nothing to tell you it had failed. They now upload properly, and if an attachment ever does fail you get told, with a way to try again.
    • On a phone or tablet, the attach button opens your photo library and camera straight away instead of a menu built for a mouse.
    • Starting a new message now gives you the same composer as a reply, so you can add photos, files and emoji before you send. Sending also opens the conversation you just created, rather than leaving the previous one on screen.
    • Lesson notes now read as written on the calendar preview and in the parent portal. Section headings show as headings instead of raw asterisks, empty sections are left out, and a note dictated as raw text shows what was actually said.
    • Turning off a studio fee now tells you how many charges are already recorded and unbilled, and for how much, and offers to waive them. Previously those charges quietly appeared on the next invoice run.
    • A failed automatic payment now shows on your dashboard whatever the reason, and the invoice and family billing card explain what went wrong and when.
    • Text message delivery status is tracked more reliably, so sent messages settle to delivered or failed instead of sitting in limbo.
    • Billing and scheduling screens now hold together on narrow phones. The billing tabs scroll instead of pushing the page sideways, and buttons across those screens are easier to tap.
  8. v2026.08.15.4
    Improved

Notes you can actually read, and a library that shows the instrument

Parent practice notes and your pre lesson recap now read the way they were written, and instruments are visible everywhere you browse repertoire.

    • Practice History on a student now shows the whole note a parent wrote. Long notes used to stop mid sentence with no way to see the rest. They now keep their line breaks and open with Show more when there is more to read.
    • The Working on recap in Up next now reads like a lesson note instead of one long run on line. Section headings stand out, each section starts on its own line, and headings a teacher left empty are hidden rather than cluttering the summary.
    • Importing a method book now asks which instrument the pieces are for, and suggests one from the book title when it recognises it. Every piece in the import is filed under that instrument, so the pieces turn up when you filter your library by instrument.
    • The Trio catalog now shows the instrument on every collection and every piece, so you can tell what a book is for before you import it. Collections that span more than one instrument say so.
  9. v2026.08.15.3
    New

See who needs a nudge, and reach them in one tap

A new Engagement page shows practice, attendance and family sign in at a glance, and Trio now knows who to message on every family surface.

    • The new Engagement page answers who needs a nudge this week. It opens from the Practicing this week tile on your dashboard and shows practice days, minutes, mood, attendance and when each family last signed in, worst first, with quick cards for students who went quiet and families who have not signed in.
    • Switch the Engagement view between This week and Last 30 days. Only the minutes and attendance figures follow the toggle, so the tiles, badges and ordering stay put while you compare.
    • Message family on your dashboard now opens the composer addressed to the right person. When a student has no Trio account of their own, it reaches their guardian instead of dropping you in the general inbox.
    • Every adult and student with a Trio account now has their own Message button on the family page, so you can reach exactly the person you mean.
    • The families list gained a single action per family. Message the family when someone can receive it, see at a glance when an invitation is still outstanding, or invite the family to Trio in one click.
    • The Last time recap beside your lesson notes now keeps the line breaks and paragraphs you wrote, and a long note stays tidy with Show more instead of pushing everything else off the page.
    • An outstanding invitation now reads Invitation Pending everywhere, so the families list and the family page say the same thing.
  10. v2026.08.14.2
    Improved

Last lesson while you write, and messages that land where they should

Teach from what you covered last time without leaving the page you are writing on, plus a round of messaging, practice and billing improvements.

    • Turn on Show last lesson in the Lesson Notes header and last week’s entry appears above each section as you write this week’s. It is there to read, never added to your note and never shared with families. Trio remembers whether you keep it on.
    • The Last time recap and the recent attendance dots on the lesson page now fill in properly for students who have earlier notes.
    • A long Working on snippet on your dashboard no longer stops mid sentence. Tap More to read the rest without leaving the page, and Trio now falls back to your rough notes when a lesson note was never structured.
    • Tapping a new message alert now opens the conversation itself, on the right portal for whoever tapped it. Teachers land in the studio inbox and families land in the family portal, both with the thread already open.
    • When a parent hits Reply in their email app, their reply now goes to the teacher who sent the message instead of an unmonitored mailbox. Group threads and announcements are covered too, and a family member’s own address is never shared with the rest of a thread.
    • Tap a practice item to open it in a focused editor, with the title on a line of its own. Much easier on a phone.
    • The Recurring Fees list shows active fees by default. Switch Show to All to see the ones you turned off.
    • Assess Now only offers periods the fee could actually be due for.
    • Deleting a fee you never assessed removes it for good; one that has been assessed is hidden instead, and its assessments stop being billed.
    • Send Message on a student profile now reaches the parent or guardian when the student has no Trio account of their own.
  11. v2026.08.11.2
    New

Know where every fee stands, and handle a whole page at once

Recurring fees now show whether they are unbilled, invoiced, or waived. Alongside that, work through invoices in batches, block out a whole summer in one dialog, and let families know the moment a lesson note is ready.

    • Every fee assessment now shows one of three states: Pending when it is owed but not yet billed, Assessed once it is on an invoice or settled outside Trio, or Waived. An assessed fee shows the invoice number it landed on.
    • Generate Invoices now picks up a family’s unbilled fees automatically, and includes families who have fees due even when they have no lessons in that period.
    • Creating an invoice by hand now offers the family’s unbilled fees as a checklist, all selected by default. Uncheck anything you would rather leave for later.
    • Waive a fee, mark it settled when it was paid in cash or outside Trio, or unwaive one you waived by mistake. Each action confirms exactly who it applies to and lets you add an optional reason.
    • Removing a fee’s line item from an invoice, or voiding that invoice, returns the fee to Pending so it can be billed on a later one.
    • Family pages show the same states on each of the past year’s fee assessments.
    • Select several invoices at once and send, remind, mark overdue, or void them together. Each button shows how many of your selection it will affect, and anything that cannot take the action is skipped rather than failed.
    • Date overrides now have a Repeating mode. Pick a date range and the weekdays it covers, and Trio creates every date for you. You see how many dates will be added and how many lessons you already have booked before anything saves. A repeating override appears as one row you can expand, so you can remove the whole set or a single date.
    • Families are now notified when you share a lesson note, and the notification opens straight to that note. Parents control this with the Lesson notes toggle in their notification settings.
    • The Sort control on your student list now works. Name A-Z, Name Z-A, Newest First, and Oldest First each reorder your whole roster, and the list opens alphabetically.
  12. v2026.08.10.2
    New

Edit invoices in place, plus more billing control

Correct an invoice without starting over, fine tune enrollments, and generate invoices for a single family.

    • Edit a draft or sent invoice right from the billing page: change the due date, notes, and line items, and totals recalculate automatically when you save.
    • Edit a billing enrollment’s start and end dates from the Enrollments tab. Trio asks you to confirm start date changes, since they affect what gets billed.
    • Generate invoices for just one family: the Generate Invoices dialog now has a family selector, and every family page has a Generate invoice shortcut that opens it already scoped to that family.
    • A recurring fee’s assessment history now shows which family and student each charge belongs to, and you can filter it by period. Waiving a fee confirms exactly who was waived.
    • Family pages now list the family’s recurring fee assessments from the past year, right in the Billing section.
    • Date pickers in the Generate Invoices dialog no longer grey out days: pick any start or end date and the other adjusts to keep the range valid.
    • Adding a student now works with skill level names of any length your studio has configured.
  13. v2026.08.10.1
    New

Emoji in messages, plus fixes and polish

Express yourself with emoji across Trio messaging, and enjoy a set of small fixes and improvements.

    • Messages and group messages now include an emoji picker, with search, categories, and your recently used emoji.
    • Type a classic emoticon like :) or :D and Trio converts it to the matching emoji as you type; press backspace to keep the original characters.
    • A message made up of just a few emoji now displays them large in the conversation, iMessage style.
    • When a group message goes out by text, the composer now shows an accurate character and segment count, including how emoji affect text message length.
    • Agreeing to an updated studio policy now records your agreement the first time, every time, and the studio policy tracker shows which families still need to agree to the latest version.
    • Requiring families to re-accept a policy is now a clear, confirmed action in the policy editor, with a progress line showing how many families have re-agreed.
    • The attachment menu in messages now opens fully on screen instead of below the edge of the window.
    • Tap any badge on the practice dashboard to replay its celebration.
    • The streak freezes counter now explains how freezes work: Trio applies them automatically to protect a streak when a practice day is missed.
  14. v2026.08.08.3
    Improved

    More Trio improvements

Billing enhancements, group message refinements, a smarter Ask Trio, and more.

    • The Group Messages list now shows an accurate delivered count for every email and SMS message.
    • Delivery reports include the date and time each message was delivered.
    • Opening a past group message now shows the message right away.
    • If your bank asks for extra verification on a renewal charge, Trio now notifies you with a secure link to complete it.
    • Ask Trio now runs on an upgraded model lineup for faster, more accurate answers.
    • Ask Trio opened from a group message now uses that group message as its context instead of the last conversation you viewed.
    • Dates, times, and amounts follow your studio format preferences more consistently across more of the app.
  15. v2026.07.09.1
    Improved

    Create invoices straight from Billing

A faster path to a new invoice, plus a fix for editing virtual lessons.

    • Use the New Invoice button on the Invoices tab of your billing dashboard to start an invoice, then choose the family it is for.
    • Editing a lesson from a student's Lessons tab now loads its virtual meeting details correctly.
  16. v2026.07.05.1
    New

Share files and links across Trio

Teachers can now attach files (PDFs, images, audio, and video) and links right where the work happens: lessons, messages, student profiles, events, and practice assignments. Families see whatever is shared with them inline.

    • A new Resources hub for families gathers lesson notes, assigned repertoire, and shared materials in one place, with a Materials view that groups every shared file and link by where it came from
    • Manage repertoire right from the lesson view: an interactive Pieces section to change the status of each piece, mark what you worked on today, and read its notes without leaving the lesson
    • A cleaner, faster practice section: add items by type (a piece, an exercise, a video to watch, a video to record, or a goal), set a target and how often, and attach a video clip to watch
    • Families now see the practice schedule in plain language on their weekly checklist
    • A refreshed Assign Composition window
  17. v2026.06.28.1
    New

    Pay invoices by bank (ACH)

Families can now pay invoices directly from a bank account. Turn on autopay and the transfer is timed to clear on the due date.

    • Apply promo codes at checkout when you subscribe
    • Faster mobile practice-video capture: record or upload in one tap
    • Cancel a single lesson, or this and all future lessons, from one place
  18. v2026.06.21.1
    New

    A redesigned practice experience

Students get a refreshed practice space with streaks, badges, a practice heatmap, weekly goals, and mood check-ins.

    • Passwordless login with passkeys (Face ID, fingerprint, or security key)
    • A new member help center with step-by-step guides
