Notification settings control how Trio reaches teachers, staff, and families. Channel settings decide where notifications go, while topic settings decide what kinds of activity should notify someone.
Open Notification Settings from the teacher portal. The page includes your personal notification channels and topics.
The Notification channels card controls:
Turning SMS on opens a consent dialog. If no phone number is on file, Trio asks for one before enabling SMS. Push notifications use the browser permission flow; once enabled, Trio lists registered devices with Send test and Remove controls.
The Notification topics card controls teacher-side topics: Scheduling, Messages, and Announcements. Topic changes save automatically.
Families manage their preferences from /member/settings/notifications. They can control email, SMS, push, and topic preferences for their portal activity.
Family and student topic settings include scheduling, messages, announcements, and practice-related topics where they apply:
The daily practice reminder is opt-in. When it is enabled, the family can choose the reminder time. Badge alerts and weekly digest email default on unless the family turns them off.
The bell in the top bar shows the system notification inbox. A badge appears when there are unread notifications. Open the bell to see the most recent notifications in a compact popover. Opening the popover refreshes recent notifications and marks unread items as read.
Use View all to open the full notification history:
/member/notificationsThe full history is useful when someone wants to confirm what Trio sent or return to an older notification. Notification rows link to the related page, such as a lesson, invoice, message, event, or practice item.
Family-facing lesson reminders are configured studio-wide in Studio Settings, on the Lessons tab. Owners and admins can turn Lesson Reminders on or off and set Hours Before Lesson, from 1 hour up to 1 week.
