Attendance Tracking

By Trio Team · Updated

Screenshot of Attendance Tracking

The Attendance page is where you record which students showed up for their lessons. The page is organized around a single day and lists every lesson scheduled for that date.

Navigating by Date

At the top, two chevron buttons step one day backward or forward, and the date label between them shows the day you are viewing. A Today button appears whenever you have navigated away from today.

Forward navigation is disabled past today - you cannot mark attendance for the future. Backward navigation is limited to the last 14 days, so you can correct recent records but not reach far into the past.

Admin: Teacher Filter

Owners, admins, and staff see a teacher dropdown in the header with All Teachers as the default. Select a specific teacher to narrow the list to only their lessons. Teachers without an admin role do not see this filter - they always see their own lessons.

Marking Status

Each lesson appears as a row in the Bulk Attendance table, with columns for Student, Time, and Type (plus a Teacher column for admins). The Status column has a dropdown with these options:

  • Present
  • Absent
  • Late
  • Excused

Choose the appropriate status for each student. Changes are not stored until you save.

Bulk Operations

Two buttons sit at the top of the table:

  • Mark All Present sets every row to Present in one click - handy for typical days when most students attended. Override individual rows afterward.
  • Save All writes every selected status. If no statuses are set, Trio prompts you to select at least one first.

After a successful save, a confirmation shows how many records were saved. Each saved record is visible from the student's profile and the lesson detail page, and feeds the attendance reporting in Reports. The Excused status interacts with your studio's cancellation policy - an excused absence may qualify for a makeup credit depending on how that policy is configured.

Attendance From the Lesson Note Editor

You can also mark attendance without visiting this page. When you open a lesson in the Lesson Note Editor, the student is automatically marked present - or late, if you used the late-start option. Those marks appear pre-filled here, so the Attendance page and the Lesson Note Editor always stay in sync.
